Post- Colonialism

Post- Colonialism is a theory added by Paul Gilroy. It's a theory about how history affected media a
nd its representation of specific groups of people. After the end of World War 2, countries in Europe like the du, Britain, France and European country in general started to lose it's grip of the world. And due to this they try to portray themselves in the best light possible within the media but at the same time, they portray groups that aren't European as 'other' groups and they would usually portray them as inferior, uncivilized and barbaric. And because of this effects viewer views Europeans as powerful and superior.

Conform:

Kingsman 2

Kingsman 2 is the second movie to the Kingsman Trilogy and is one of the most iconic movie sitting next to James bond. This movie is one of the example of a post colonialism movie that conforms with the post colonialism theory. As this movie represent of what a British man should be.

Proper, civilized, skilled and highly intelligent in any scenario. A perfect icon of how a British man would look like in public. And in the entire Kingsman trilogy this traits had always been portrayed from the fancy suit they wore which portrays them as civilized and an elitist, but not only that they wear high tech glasses which is a popular stereotype that portrays them as smart. Also the Kingsman's movie plot has always has something to do with Britain.

Naturally, the British would show the characters in Kingsman in the best light as possible so the audience would portray these characters as good and noble guys, as to why their actions and thoughts are deemed to be noble and just even when it results to them killing hundreds and thousands of people as a result. The issues the characters has to deal with are dangerous, even can result in world ending, which empathies that the main character has good problem solving abilities and very much competent. Spectators after finishing the film, will see that British people are the good guys, as they are noble, civilized, skilled in preventing world disasters. When in reality is the contrary.

 Subvert:

      RRR

RRR is a Indian Telugu- Language epic action drama film directed by S.S. Rajamouli. This movie is an example that subvert from the Post-colonialism ideology. As in the movie the British are portrayed as evil, Maniac and cruel. they are portrayed as this due India being an ex colony of the British empire, and because of this they are portrayed as this.

The British are portrayed as Evil, sadistic, heartless in the movie. This can be seen from their lack of care of  human lives in the movie, seen through them portraying the Indians as objects that can be bought with money and that can be taken away by them easily and them not caring when they kill people who are not British as in the movie it is Indians. This also can be enforced from every scene in the movie where if there are a British man in a scene there will be something bad that is going to happen and this can be seen as a bad omen

Alluri Sitarama Raju and his friends in the movie are presented as heroes who fight bravely against the British for a noble and just cause, do whatever it takes to survive and of course win against them at the end of the day. British colonizer which are historically well organized, trained and disciplined, are relatively equal because the Star Wars Stormtrooper is clumsy, can't aim, and is completely intelligent.
